Update on the COVID-19 vaccination programme: national vaccination letters

We are aware that some of our patients are starting to receive letters from the national vaccination booking system. The letters are labelled only from the NHS and invites you to book your vaccination appointment. Please don’t worry, our service is not affected. These letters are offering the opportunity to book an appointment at one of the larger vaccination centres, such as the Brighton Centre or a local pharmacy. You cannot book at our vaccination service through this system.

Our vaccination service at Leacroft Medical Practice/Saxonbrook Medical Practice is working alongside these other services. You have a choice where you receive your vaccination – at our service, at a larger vaccination centre like the Brighton Centre or at a local pharmacy service.

Our team will contact you directly to arrange an appointment at our vaccination service. Appointments for the larger vaccination centres and pharmacies are available through the national booking system set out in the letter – either online or by phone.

You can either follow the details in the letter to book at one of those services, or we will be contacting you in the next two weeks to arrange an appointment in our local service.

UPDATE 21/12/2020 - Please see our facebook page for our most recent update regarding appointments, and entering the Practice. We are using our Doorbell system again for all patients entering or visiting the Practice. We would also like to ask Patients only come to the Practice if they need to, and to arrive prompt for all appointments as we do not have waiting facilities available.

COVID19 VACCINATION PROGRAMME: The GP Practices in Crawley are going to be working together to organise the mass vaccination programme for our local area. Saxonbrook Practice in Maidenbower have been approved as our local base for Coachmans Medical Practice patients also. Please DO NOT contact your Practice about vaccinations or recruitment for this Programme as we will contact you depending on your "risk tier" and we are NOT managing the recruitment/applications.

FREE WINTER VITAMIN D SUPPLY FOR AT RISK PATIENTS: Starting in January, for the Winter period, the government are offering a free winter supply of Vitamin D to clinically extremely vulnerable individuals. Please do not contact your GP for this as this programme is not being managed by GP Practices and we are unable to supply free vitamin D supplements for this Programme. 

FACE COVERINGS: Please bring and wear your own face covering (mask, scarf, bandana etc.) to all appointments, and wear your face covering at all times in the Practice. Please see below regarding exemptions.

DOCTOR / NURSE APPOINTMENTS: Please complete an eConsult as your first contact choice for all queries and medical concerns to keep our phone lines free for emergency calls. To book a Nurse appointment, please call us.

Face Coverings in Public Place

Recently, the Government extended its advice on the number of places where face masks should be worn. Please be aware that we are unable to provide certification or exemption letters for patients who wish to and/or have a legitimate reason not to wear a face covering. It is sufficient for an individual to self-declare this.

Asthma and face coverings:

Asthma UK has released some information and advice on wearing face masks and face coverings including an exemption card for those with breathing problems. Please click here

Public Transport and face coverings exemption:

We are aware that Transport for London (TFL) have a specific website/phone line for customers whilst travelling on TFL; you can find this here.

South-eastern railways also have a similar facility which can be sourced here.

Things Coachmans Medical Practice are changing and doing

ALL patients attending for a booked appointment will be contacted before attending to filter out possible COVID19 cases.

We are cancelling routine and review appointments for a few weeks so we can concentrate on patients with acute illness.

We are operating a new doorbell system. When patients arrive at the surgery please speak to receptionists through the doorbell at the front door first.

If possible, please bring and wear a face mask to the surgery for appointments.

Baby immunisations are still being held at the surgery, please be aware we are asking patients to only have one person present with their child. If you have any concerns please contact us on 01293 583320.

DO NOT come to the surgery unless you have an appointment

DO NOT come to the surgery if you have ANY flu-like symptoms, a fever, a cough or a change in sense of taste/smell

DO NOT bring more than one person with you to your appointment (if possible) and ensure they are also symptom free

DO NOT come to the surgery for prescription requests, sick note requests and/or collection - order online or via email 

DO consider a telephone consultation or an eConsult (see banner above) as your first point of GP/Nurse contact via the telephone triage

DO order sick notes and medication over the telephone

DO put all prescription and sick notes requests through the letterbox outside the surgery, or call reception and request over the telephone or email (please note this will still take 2 working days and health concerns/queries will not be dealt with via email. Patients must consult via telephone triage as usual.)

DO telephone first

DO complete any pre-screening questionnaire received via SMS

DO keep updated on relevant COVID-19 news from the Public Health England

DO try to avoid coming to the surgery if you are considered in a “high risk” group (meaning anyone who is offered the influenza vaccine every year due to a high risk condition) - According to the national guidance issued on 16/3/2020 this means you should also consider social distancing.

The surgery staff are working incredibly hard to reorganise our processes and manage the capacity. We appreciate all our patients are supportive and considerate of these adjustments. Please tell all family and friends of these adjustments, adn keep an eye on information we will continue to send out.

Most importantly, we hope everyone stays safe and well during the coming weeks and we thank you for your understanding and patience on this matter.

Everyone is being reminded to follow Public Health England advice to:

  • Always carry tissues with you and use them to catch your cough or sneeze. Then bin the tissue, and wash your hands, or use a sanitiser gel.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after using public transport. Use a sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are unwell
